Research
Anne Jensen has conducted research at Oxford University focusing on the validity of muscle response testing (MRT).
Research Focus:
Her research at the University of Oxford, where she earned her DPhil (PhD) in Evidence-based Health Care, centered on investigating the accuracy and precision of kinesiology-style manual muscle testing.
Specifically, she has conducted a series of diagnostic test accuracy studies.
Her research has explored whether muscle response testing can be used to distinguish between true and false statements.
Key Findings:
Her studies have shown that muscle response testing performed by practitioners demonstrated accuracy levels above chance.
She has also shown that the practitioner is a key part of the process, and that when mechanical devices were used instead of a practitioner, the tests did not produce the same level of results.
In essence, Anne Jensen’s research at Oxford University has aimed to provide a more evidence-based understanding of muscle response testing
Principles:
Based on the idea that the body has an innate ability to “communicate” through muscle responses.
Involves applying gentle pressure to a muscle and observing its ability to resist.
A “strong” muscle is interpreted as a positive response, while a “weak” muscle is interpreted as a negative response.
It is based on the idea that stresses to the body, whether chemical, mental, or structural, will cause a weakening of a previously strong muscle.
